Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is in the process of closing on a mansion in the Tampa area, TMZ reported.
While the final sale price isn’t known—yet—the waterfront home in Clearwater, FL, was listed for $7.5 million. On the market since last year, the contemporary dwelling in a private community went up for sale in November 2019 for $8.5 million.
In August 2020, the home’s price was sliced by a million dollars. Now, the home believed to be in Brady’s sights is currently in “Pending sale” status on realtor.com®.
Brady left the New England Patriots for a two-year, $50 million deal with the Bucs earlier this year. The family first dipped a toe into the waters of Tampa real estate by renting the massive mansion of the baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter on Davis Islands.
But that proved to be a stopgap, since the former New York Yankee shortstop is now selling his custom-built spread for $29 million.
The Brady family seems to have found another residence in the area fit for a superstar athlete.
Fully renovated in 2015, the ultramodern abode is set right on the water. The listing details say the home “took over five years to complete.”
It features sleek built-ins, mood lighting, and chandeliers that drip from the ceiling like stalactites. Materials used in the construction include glass, stone, quartz, and wood.
On 8,400 square feet, the layout features five bedrooms, five en suite bathrooms, and three half-bathrooms, spread over three floors.
The generous master suite overlooks the water, adjacent to a home gym. The living areas include a formal living room, dining room, theater, and wet bar, as well as a billiard-room with a fireplace.
The eat-in kitchen includes Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Miele appliances, a walk-in pantry, and a custom-designed breakfast bar. A built-in banquette is adjacent to the kitchen.
Additional special features include a Creston home automation system, audio and media system, an elevator, and a deep-water dock. Outdoors, the quarter-acre space includes a covered outdoor lounging and dining area, a fire pit, pool, and spa.
In the listing details for the Clearwater home, the adjacent lot is described as being available for purchase. Listed for $1.45 million, the vacant lot, with 82 feet of deep-water frontage, is also now pending sale. Perhaps it’s part of a package deal for the legendary QB—time will tell.
The Bradys still own a home in Brookline, MA, which they built while the QB starred for the Pats. Once listed for $39.5 million, the price of the 5-acre, 12,000-square-foot estate was dropped to $33.9 million and came off the market in May.
“We took it off the market because of the virus. We thought it was a waste of time,” Beth Dickerson of Gibson Sotheby’s said at the time to Boston.com. “We’ll put it back on when the time is right.”
Before Brady joined the Buccaneers, he spent the previous 20 seasons of his career with the Patriots, playing in nine Super Bowls and winning six of them, the highest number won by any player in NFL history.
Sophia Vasilaros with Smith & Associates holds the listing for the Clearwater home and adjacent lot.
