Given that he’s spent a large part of his post-NFL career in real estate development, retired quarterback Aaron Brooks probably isn’t daunted by the thought of selling his $2 million home in Richmond, VA.

The 8,022-square-foot Georgian Colonial home sits on a sprawling 2.4-acre lot in the Middle Quarter neighborhood, and is every inch the sort of grand old mansion that fits the region to a tee.

Built with lavish comfort in mind, the mansion is a true standout. First- and second-floor master suites complement three additional ensuite bedrooms.

A living room study comes with a two-sided fireplace, and a third-floor office opens up to a walk-out terrace. Down below is a full home theater with two rows of plush seating, an indoor golf simulator, and an indoor pool with its own kitchen and entertaining area.

A Virginia native, Brooks grew up in a housing project in the East End area of Newport News. He earned a football scholarship to the University of Virginia, where he played alongside the future NFL stars Tiki Barber, Ronde Barber, and Mike Groh. Brooks was taken by the Green Bay Packers in the 1999 NFL Draft, but found himself relegated to third-string quarterback duties behind Matt Hasselbeck and Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

A trade to the New Orleans Saints kickstarted Brooks’ career, and he spent six seasons in Louisiana. In 2006, he would play an injury-shortened season with the Oakland Raiders before retiring.

After his playing career, Brooks became heavily involved in real estate development in his home state of Virginia, developing an upscale subdivision in James City County and working to help revitalize downtown Newport News. In 2014, Brooks was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame.

The listing is being handled by Gwen Walker McCorvey of Walker McCorvey Realty LLC.
