On Desert Ground: Steven Seagal Selling 12-Acre Spread in Scottsdale

The action star Steven Seagal has decided to sell his high-drama hacienda in Scottsdale, AZ, a rugged 12-acre estate he has listed for $3,775,000.

After marrying his fourth wife, Erdenetuya Seagal, in 2009, the “Under Siege” tough guy bought the dramatic desert digs for $3.5 million in 2010. The outspoken conservative turned reality-show cop has ties with controversial former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and even toyed with running for governor of Arizona in 2014, according to the Washington Post.

But his political run in the desert never materialized, because Seagal hadn’t yet reached the five-year residency threshold for eligibility.

Now, it seems he’s moved on from the Grand Canyon State, leaving behind this exquisite 2001-built home with five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, and nearly 9,000 square feet, sitting on 12 acres of pristine desert in north Scottsdale.

With views of the Chiricahua Golf Course and city views of Phoenix and Scottsdale, the home is built for luxury living, in harmony with the rugged desert that surrounds it.

Highlights of the home include a home theater, copper roof, a three-car garage with copper doors, negative-edge heated pool, and 600-square-foot guesthouse.

These days, Seagal likes to spend time in Russia with his bro Vladimir Putin, whom he has called “one of the great living world leaders,” procuring Russian citizenship in the process. Seagal is also a citizen of Serbia, where he owns a martial arts studio.

Seagal is currently on tour in Europe telling tales from his colorful life and career. He’s also no stranger to real estate deals. The star of “Above the Law” owned properties in Eads, TN, and across California over the years, including a Hollywood mansion purchased by actress Reese Witherspoon and a plot of undeveloped land in Montague, CA, near Oregon, according to Variety.

Now a lucky buyer has the chance to live like a star and scoop up this delicious desert dojo with 1990s action-star pedigree. Kimonos entirely optional.

Bless! Converted Church From 1873 Is This Week’s Most Popular Home

realtor.com

Praise be! A Pennsylvania church converted into a cozy home sent clicks soaring toward the heavens this week. The former house of worship from the late 1800s wound up as this week’s most popular home on realtor.com®.

From the heavy wood double doors to the original stained glass and church bell, the property has held onto certain features of its ecclesiastical past, while being effortlessly transformed into a bright, airy family house.

Apart from this divine cathedral conversion, you also clicked on a brand-new castle in Illinois decorated in a pristine Scandinavian aesthetic, designer Betsey Johnson‘s $2 million hot-pink beach mobile home, and a Spanish Colonial Revival in the O.C. with a crow’s nest rooftop deck to take in water and city views. Plus there’s an appearance by former Packer wide receiver Randall Cobb, who’s selling his home in Green Bay, WI, after parting ways with the team last year.

No helmet required—but we ask you to tackle the complete list of this week’s most popular homes by scrolling down…

10. 16810 Springfield Rd, Pekin, IL

Price: $995,000

Why it’s here: This is a castle decorated in Scandinavian style, built in 2018. This large five-bedroom residence has over 5,000 square feet of airy living space. Highlights include white-oak hardwood floors, a grand white-oak staircase, 57 black casement-style windows, third-floor media room, and a walk-out on the lower level. The 12-acre lot offers rolling prairie views from almost every vantage point.

Wild Star and Minnesota Native Zach Parise Selling $4.65M Orono Mansion

Zach Parise

Derek Leung/Getty Images

When you sign a 13-year, $98 million contract with a team from your home state, odds are you’ll be sticking around for a while.

Even so, change can be a positive. Which might explain why left winger Zach Parise has put his $4.65 million Orono, MN, mansion on the market.

Parise is a second-generation NHL star. His father, J.P., played for Minnesota’s original franchise the North Stars as well as Team Canada during the legendary 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union.

After starting his career with (and being named captain of) the New Jersey Devils, Parise signed his huge deal with the Minnesota Wild in 2012.

Married to his high school sweetheart and, until recently, based in Orono near his parents’ home in Prior Lake, the 35-year-old is clearly proud of his Minnesota roots.

Although his father, who died in 2015, was French-Canadian, Parise was born and raised in America while J.P. played for the then-North Stars. He was picked in the first round of the NHL draft in 2003.

Parise’s home itself is a worthy monument to the “State of Hockey.” Located in the elegant Crystal Bay neighborhood, the house is built to take full advantage of breathtaking views of Lake Minnetonka.

With huge bay windows and a back deck that sits just a few feet from the water, the elegant home sits on 1.15 acres with 116 feet of lakefront.

Measuring in with 7,047 square feet of living space, including five bedrooms and 6.5 baths, there’s ample room for entertaining. The luxury details include a roomy chef’s kitchen and a window-front sitting space.

In case you had any doubt you were buying the home of a bona fide NHL All-Star, there’s even a small practice rink in the basement to work on your slap shot.

The listing is being handled by Erin Bailey of Wexford Real Estate.

Huge $33M Virginia Property With Golf Course Is Most Expensive New Listing

realtor.com

An enormous property in Amherst, VA, spanning almost 1,000 acres and including a Sam Snead–designed golf course is this week’s most expensive new listing on realtor.com®. The price? A steep $33 million.

“It’s really a magnificent property,” says listing agent Theo Adamstein with TTR Sotheby’s International Realty. “It’s got a wonderful history.”

Originally a land grant by King George II in the 1730s, a log cabin and the manor house were built for the original owners and are still in use today. The property also boasts ties to Thomas Jefferson, who is said to have ridden his horse between Monticello and this property, known as Poplar Grove.

The property was sold to a farmer in 1945, and remained unchanged until the completion of the golf course, which opened in 2004. The current owners have had the property since 2010. The 942 acres are a mix of open land, forests, the 230-acre golf course, and the manor house, which was built in 1773.

Poplar Grove Golf Club is located between Charlottesville and Lynchburg and was recently renovated. Along with a steady stream of members on the links every day, the course is open to the public, Adamstein notes.

The course and surrounding land include rolling hills, water features, lakes, and views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The most expensive new listing includes a 230-acre golf course.

Improvements keep the course in top shape.

The owners embarked on extensive improvements to the course as well as a restoration of the manor house.

Despite the continuing investment in upkeep, the owners, who hold other properties, decided it was time to sell.

For the next owner, options abound. Given that the property is zoned for multiple uses, it could become a resort, winery, event venue, residential or commercial development, or any combination of the above.

Currently, 700-plus acres stand available for development. And all of the infrastructure—electric, gas, and septic systems, roads, street lighting, and golf maintenance facilities and equipment—is in place for the next owner.

The next owner could also choose to keep running Poplar Grove as a golf course. Plans for a new clubhouse are also available.

The 18-hole golf course was the last that the legendary golfer Snead designed. He died in 2002.

Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn is skiing away from her Vail, CO, home, according to Architectural Digest. The former Alpine ski racer has listed her mountain retreat for $6 million.

But don’t worry, she will slalom into another home on the East Coast.

”She has actually purchased a home in New Jersey with her fiancĂ©, P.K. Subban, who plays for the New Jersey Devils,” her representative told People magazine. The decision to sell comes a month after she announced her engagement to the hockey star.

The medalworthy abode was built in 2011 and measures 7,042 square feet, which includes five bedrooms and 6.5 baths. Located on Black Gore Creek on a private cul-de-sac, the property features lovely views.

Downstairs, the large family room has a wet bar and a fireplace. In addition, the home comes with a fitness room where the World Champion must have spent quality time. There’s also a two-car garage and a heated driveway.

During a tour of the home with People magazine, Vonn pointed out her favorite features, including a whole-house sound system and a magnetic doggie door, which is activated by her three dogs’ collars. She said the home purchase in 2014 was her first.

Vonn has made real estate news before. She placed her Los Angeles home on the market in 2017 for $3.8 million, and it sold the following year for $3.65 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Vonn is considered to be the most successful American ski racer and one of the greatest of all skiers. She won four World Cup overall championships, and was the first American woman to win gold in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics. In 2019, she retired from the sport due to injury.

R&B singer Ne-Yo is expanding his real estate game. The popular musician has placed his Sherman Oaks, CA, home on the market for $1.99 million. He purchased the place in April 2017 for approximately the same price.

At the time of the home purchase, the 39-year-old had been living in a six-bedroom, five-bathroom house in Georgia, where he owns multiple properties, according to Architectural Digest. As well as buying two homes for his mother in the Atlanta suburbs, he reportedly made his former partner Monyetta Shaw a co-owner of his Atlanta condo.

As for his West Coast pad, the songwriter and record producer, whose given name is Shaffer Smith, didn’t spend much time in SoCal before deciding to move out.

Even so, the home is something to sing about.
